Exercise 5

1. No, it doesn’t. I don’t get any information about Eleanor Roosevelt’s childhood in this passage.
2. Most of this passage tells about the Eleanor Roosevelt’s role in her struggle for human rights and fundamental freedoms for everyone everywhere. Her role in the Declaration of Human Rights made her became the most influential member of the United Nation’s Commission on Human Rights though she wasn’t a scholar or an expert on international law but her enthusiasm for her work in the United Nations was rooted in her humanitarian convictions and her steady faith in human dignity and worth. She was also elected became the leader of the Commission on Human Rights by the delegates.
3. Yes, it does. This passage gives a positive impression of Mrs. Roosevelt because Mrs. Roosevelt is a woman who struggling for the human rights, for the equal justice, equal opportunity, and equal dignity without discrimination. Her role in the United Nation’s Commission on Human Rights, her leadership of the Commission on Human Rights was the great achievement.
4. Eleanor Roosevelt’s personal sense of accomplishment with the finished declaration was unparalleled in her life.
5. Mrs. Roosevelt is a characteristic modesty woman. She is an astute, accomplished, and intelligent woman.

Exercise 6

1. In this passage I get many more information about Mrs. Roosevelt especially the early life of Mrs. Roosevelt which hasn’t been studied yet in the previous passage on page 48.
2. These two passages are similar in explaining about Mrs. Roosevelt life, but in passage 2 which its source is from encyclopedia entry give us more detail life of Mrs. Roosevelt.
3. If I were a writing a report on Mrs. Roosevelt’s life, the source that would be most useful for me is the source that is come from the encyclopedia entry. Because if I use the encyclopedia entry I will get many more information about Mrs. Roosevelt’s life. It gives us information that can’t be found in the web page, such as the early life of Mrs. Roosevelt’s life.
4. If I were a writing a report about the United Nations, the source that would be most useful for me is the source that is come from web page. Because in this passage explain more detail about United Nation in struggling for the human rights and fundamental freedoms for everyone in everywhere.
5. I think that the encyclopedia entry is easier to skim than the web page because the encyclopedia entry has good arrangement in its explanation.
