The report of Reading Assignment
Our discussion was conducted on Thursday at 10.30 a.m. – 00.25 p.m. in front of B3117B. We discussed and shared about our reading report each other. The first turn was told by Ain. She shared us about a magazine from Australia, the Kangguru magazine. It is published by the Australia government cooperate with Indonesia. The publisher of that magazine is IALF. After she had read that magazine which has twenty pages for six days, she had found many interesting point of them. They are Future transportation low cost airlines. In the term of future transportation, it tells us that there was first friendly ‘bajaj’ in Jakarta. Sutiyoso had tested in driving it. That magazine also tells us about the low cost airlines in Indonesia. It was Lion air. As we know that several times ago, there had been accident twice by this kind of airlines. The conclusion of this magazine is that it is not only tells us about Australia but also Indonesia. It includes as easy to understanding. It can be got freely by sending e-mail to www.kangguru.org. Let’s try it.
Move to next turn, that is Dwi’s turn. We should change our mind. The topic is about Korea culture. She got this article from internet by site http//en.wikipedia.org/wiki/culture_of_korea. It consists of two pages. She told us about Korean dress and tea ceremony. The traditional dress is called as hanbok. Each category of social status level has different type of clothes. They sign it based on social rank. Korean considers tea is not only as medicine because it has five tastes of it. They are sweet, sour, salty, bitter and pungent tastes. This article is easy in understanding and interesting.
The last but not the least turn was Dian’s. She shared about a book that has title “Code-Switching and Code Mixing in Multilingual Societies”. It has 170 pages. She did not read the whole pages, but she had read one part of them that is code switching that has four pages. That book tells us about code switching. The language that used in that book is medium in understanding because the author, Elizabeth Marasigan wrote that book was around 1983 based on her research. The main point of code switching is that the mixing of two languages in the same sentence or discourse. The example that given by author is Pilipino and English, Tagalog and English that had done by Azores in 1967. The domain factor of occurring of code mixing is by social and linguistics. Their environment influenced them much. The linguistics point of view told that language can be shifting and formulated for structures and recurring patterns. It was based on the Marfil-Pasigna study in 1970 and Pimentel study in 1972. This part of that book tells us about many other researches that had done by many linguists.
By closing of the explanation of the book, it means that the end of our first discussion. Let see for the next discussion. Don’t miss it. Created by Dwi-Ain-Dian (DAD)

What I like most about this article :
From this article, I can know Dream Theater journey in Music world, how many and what’s albums that they have created, and also the specification of every each album. This article has payed my thirsty to know more about Dream Theater. I think this article is very good to read for anybody who wanted to know Dream Theater more.
What I like least about this article :
There is something that I don’t like from this article. It is only give information about what Dream theater has done (in making albums), not what they have reach and received from their carrier (for example they win the American Music Awards) and not also about members biography. I wanted to know abut the members biography too. But this article only gives me the Information about Dream Theater commonly. But it’s okay. I hope the author will give the readers more about Dream Theater by outside (Dream Theater) and inside (every members of Dream Theater).

Title : Queensland A Great State Of Mind
Author : Peter Beattie
Publisher : Focus Publishing
Year Published : 2005
Type of book : Non Fiction
Difficulty Level : understandable
What I like the most from the book :
The book tells us about many inspirational figures live in Australia , about their success story , and also about their mind set shown in each and every proverb they said. Those words they said inspire me to have a new vision in seeing my life and whatever comes to me. One example of those proverbs is “ Success is a journey , not a destination “ , spoken by Gerrary Gossen , a blind adventurer.
What I like the least from the book :
There’s a few number of proverbs only in the book as some of the figures just talked about their impression of living in Queensland and what they think about the city. If only there’s more proverb found , the book would be more inspiring

By reading this article i've got some information about many icons of transport that even i don't know it before. Many forms of transport are mentioned in this article, such as Japan's bullet train,Gondolas, Combi van(from Australia), bajaj, junk(from Hong Kong), and Qantas plane(which is covered in Australia Aboriginal art designs)
What did you like least about this article?
I like the writer's way to explain the icons of transport. The writer gives the information by adding some pictures, so i know not only the explanation but also the transport's icons picture. For example when the writer explains about Qantas plane. The writer tells that Qantas plane is famous with its red kangaroo. For making sure the reader, the writer shows the form picture of that plane.

Title : Alice In Wonderland
Author : Lewis Caroll
Publisher : Tiny Tot Publications
Year published : 2004
Number of pages : 104 pages
Date begun : 20 March 2010
Date finished : 27 March 2010
Type of book : Fiction
Level of diffulty for me : OK
Lewis Caroll was smart in depicting the story. When I was reading this book, I jumped into my imagination where thing called “Wonderland” exist in my mind. It was indeed such a great pleasure to follow how Alice were doing in Wonderland. It could make the curiosity of mine kept pumping along the thrilling story when Alice encountered various strange-friends and foes-creature such as the Talking Mouse, March Hare, the White Rabbit, the Caterpillar, the Cheshire Cat, the Mock Turtle, the Queen of Hearts and the Splendid Mad Hatter (my favorite one) in a bunch of-you had never ever imagined before-scenes! The scene at the Mad Hatter’s tea party is actually the most interesting of Alice’s fantastic experiences in Wonderland according to me.
In addition, some poems and modified nursery rhymes for children created by the author along the story were just fascinating. They had given more color to the story and made me giggled at glance! How came? Yeah, some of them were very entertaining. One of my favorite was a modified nursery rhimes entitled Twinkle Twinkle Little Bat.
That was what I like most about the book. Now, I just can’t wait to watch Tim Burton’s adaptation of Alice in Wonderland on screen. Maybe The DVD version of it will be available in Indonesia a few months later. I do hope the film will be as good as the printed version as well.
What I liked least about this book:
Despite of the amusing story, Alice in Wonderland is written in a dark tone. There are so many mean characters involved in Alice’s adventure. Even the characters who aid Alice, the Caterpillar and the Cheshire Cat, have a dark edge to her as well. In my opinion, a few of the under five years children might be engulfed by fear of surroundings after reading this book. So, I suggest that if the adult wants to tell this story to children, please take notice about that. Humm, but this book is nice and educating overall. I give 3,5 stars of 5!

In my opinion this book is good for university students especially for students who are majoring language or communication. This book consists of four parts. Part one tells us about the element of communication, this part consists of five chapters about, human communication, perception and the self, language, listening and nonverbal communication. Part two is about interpersonal communication, it has two chapters about, understanding interpersonal relationship and interviewing. Part three tells about communication in group. This chapter consists of three chapters, they are the nature of group, solving problem in group and communicating in organization. The last part is about public communication. It explains about how to choose and develop a topic, how to organize and support a speech and present the massage. This book enriches our knowledge about communication in general. It begins with an introduction to the basic elements of communication. It also provides a solid understanding of perception, language, listening, and non verbal communication. This book guides the students through lively sections on interpersonal communication, small group communication, and public address. The book also gives some pictures to make the readers clearly to understand and also offers some illustrating concept in real life scenario. In short, this book provides students with the material they need to know to become competent communicators.
What did you like least about this book/article?
For the beginner, this book is too hard to understand. Sometimes the authors use a high level of language. For the picture it is good enough but it will be better if it uses the color picture. It would be better if the author give a current example and related to the social life. I have read the second edition of this book, maybe in the next edition the author give more details explanation or give more reference.

What did you like least about this book/article?
I do not like about this article because it describes only one of the songs from the songs will be played to music lovers so I can not know what songs will be played in order to bring awareness to the public.
